The ARRI Rental Prime DNA lenses provide new creative options for cinematographers when shooting on the ALEXA 65.
They were also developed in close collaboration with ARRI Rental and IB/E optics was responsible for designing the DNA housings and important key components such as focus cam elements. The lenses provide character and feeling distinctly different than the Prime 65 lenses and have been used on many films including Mary Magdalene (Greig Fraser, ASC, ACS), Solo: A Star Wars Story (Bradford Young, ASC) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (Dante Spinotti, ASC, AIC).
The Prime 65 S lenses provide a new creative option for cinematographers when shooting on the ALEXA 65 and IB/E optics was happy to work together with ARRI Rental on this joint project.
The Prime 65 S lenses were designed by IB/E optics for ARRI Rental and completely developed, manufactured and assembled by IB/E in Germany. They have a softer look than the Prime 65 lenses and have been used on many major motion pictures to include The Hurricane Heist (Shelley Johnson, ASC), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 (Phillippe Rousselot, AFC) and 800 Warriors (Yu Cao).
In 2014, we introduced the Prime 65 lenses as an integral part of the ALEXA 65 system. These high performance 65 mm lenses were developed by IB/E optics for ARRI Rental to provide cinematographers with a set of lenses capable of utilizing the entire sensor area. Eight primes (24 mm, 28 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 80 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, and 150 mm) and a zoom lens (50 – 110 mm) were developed. They are all made with Hasselblad optics and are housed in state-of-the-art uniform lens housings and robust mechanics developed by IB/E optics. Numerous films have been shot using the Prime 65 lenses such as The Revenant (Emmanuel Lubezski, ASC, AMC), War for the Planet of the Apes (Michael Seresin, BSC) and Captain America: Civil War (Trent Opaloch).
